Weekend Projects

Here's what keeps Scott on his toes and reminds me not to do ANY type of home project while he is in the vacinity. Saturday I had the bright idea of getting a cabinet for the breakfast room from the furniture store. Mind you I had been eyeing this cabinet for 6 months or so and had really looked around and decided it was the RIGHT one. When I alerted/texted a pic of the cabinet to my neighbor she suggested having the delivery guys bring these cabinets over that I had pondered purchasing for oh, 24 hours. So I get home and make the suggestion that Scott should go make some deposits in the "Scott account" by going to Bookland or Starbucks. Immediately he became suspicious. I have to explain that if Extreme Home Makeover came into our house on a given Saturday afternoon and said they were completely renovating our entire basement for FREE Scott would begin to hyperventilate and say no thank you. He just doesn't like disorder or chaos. Now, when he came home and it was really cool and awesome, he would be happy. He gave up and left home. Bax was sleeping and Bonnie's son and his friend brought the HEAVY cabinets to the front porch. The furniture store delivered the corner piece and the guys agreed for a little extra $ to move these things up the stairs. Guess what? Right - would not fit. Inner scream. The two muscle men left and I began to ponder Scott's homecoming with dirt in floor and cabinets in the middle of everywhere. Bonnie and I found a small tool and removed the iron railing. Daunting task. Called said furniture store and begged guys to come back out. Of course now that they were back at the store they couldn't come back until after 5. Waiting impatiently. They get back at 5:05, move them right up stairs. They graciously helped get the railing back on stairs and were on their way. I swept really quickly and bam - looked like nothing had even happened. Scott came home and was able to just walk around in his weekend bliss. What a day!
In conclusion, very happy with cabinets. They will be very helpful with scrapbooking/organizing/kid's projects/just about anything. They came from a kindergarten classroom from long ago to hold jackets, little bins and cubbies. They are AWESOME and hold so much stuff. Room is still not completed but it's getting there. Now it's on to the original corner cabinet and figuring out what to put on it.
