Fast Wheels & Darth Vader

Bless his little racing heart. He's been riding in Pressley's for awhile and I really thought we could find one at a yard sale but we never did? So when Scott cruised through Fayetteville yesterday, he found this at the Toys R Us. It was like Christmas morning! He's already been on two walks with it today, one with Duke!
Daddy stayed up very late last night watching our favorite show putting it together.
While he was constructing the car, I was making Darth Vader sandwiches!

Randomness from the past weeks

I tell you this blog thing is hard to figure out. First of all, it's tough to find the time to get on the computer. Second, this little netbook is hard to see/figure out picture stuff? Anyway, I'll try to do it more? Sorry for any large blanks/no wraparound texts? I promise I took typing 101 in high school.

Here's some randomness from the past few weeks. Still no pic of dog - he won't come out from under barn.

Amy came down from Atlanta to spend the night with us. Libby and Margaret Virginia were absolute dolls. Amy's cousin Bubba and his wife Diana came over from Hampton to get some of Amy's maternity clothes. They are expecting their first baby soon enough!

d

The Griffin neighborhood came over to say hello to the "aliens" and Libby got a chance to jump on the dreaded torte. She loved it so much. We finally coaxed Amy to get off!
Sweet Pressley posed for Scott to get some pics of her in the Little Tikes house.

Who would've thought we'd be together 15 years after we were so nuts in high school? Strange to see...We are so very blessed to have each other and to have these wonderful children running around happy and healthy! Of course Scotty went to get the children Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Libby was in love with Uncle Scott!

What a fun night! We watched movies and Libby mimicked everything Lillee did. It was so cute and when I tell her how much younger children are watching her, it is so true.
How strange to see all 4 children in the bath together! Margaret will be in there soon enough.

What an awesome verse to live by. We should all stand out and allow others to question what is so special about us. We decorated tables and mine was decorated quite quickly, spur of the moment night before! It was a great night with a good turnout to support these outstanding girls. They spoke from the heart to share their stories and their love of the Savior.t "How sweet are your words to my lips" Psalm 119:103The green table was Farrah's and it turned out so cute! She worked super hard on it and also did another table as well. The "doggy bag" table was done by Angela's daughter. It was Alexis's birthday and she made treat bags for all of her friends. What a special night to celebrate a birthday. We all sang happy birthday during the night.

"Why try so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?" WOW! My favorite canvas. What an awesome phrase for these girls to hear that are always trying to conform to the world and be like others. We all try so hard to "fit in" that we forget how much our Heavenly Father wants us to just be ourselves and live for Him.
We should "shine" like stars in the sky!

d

WOW! This mom did a great table complete with tshirts! I would've loved to be at this table huh!

Last but not least, Scotty and I went to Lake Oconee this weekend. Many thanks to my brave mother and her friend, Ms. Diane for keeping the angelic creatures and running them about town to keep up with their engagements! It was a weekend of relaxation!

Duke

Completely Scott's idea. We had actually been discussing a dog for awhile. A little boy needs a dog right? Then I mentioned things like barking, jumping, pooping, pooping, mounds of pooping, dog hair, smells... My list of negatives seemed to outweigh Scott's list of positives. However, he took a liking to our neighbor's dog, Luke and decided that's what we needed!

We would like to introduce you to our newest family member, Duke Key. I like to call him "Dukey" and I think he'll answer to just about anything.

Luke came from a foster family for the humane society. He is an English Pointer and they believe he's about 2 years old. He's already had all of his shots and was neutered a couple of weeks ago. He's very timid and quiet and loves to be petted on his belly. He likes to lie down and roll over when you come up to him. Duke loves the children and even Ben liked touching his fur! We think he was very hungry because he loves Scott's food! He will stay outside only! I did agree that if it gets really cold he can come into the garage.

PICS TO COME...

I'm sure there could have been a better time for us to add something else to our crazy family but I'll bet the timing would have never been perfect so I'm glad Scott decided for us. He really wanted a "man dog" to ride around town. I'm just not seeing this bird dog riding around town in Scott's little black car???
Not a great pic but as promised, here is the recipe for the asparagus and mushroom risotto. Mmmmm good! A must try.

Soccer and Supper

#33 - Baxter the "Beetle"
This is practice with coach Kayla. These two girls are so great. They're juniors at Spalding High School and play on the soccer team. He's all over the ball at this point.
As soon as the game was over he was so excited to tell me, "Hey mama, did you see those people that were kicking the ball? I got real close to those kids mama!"
Bless him. He just has some fun. There's no competitiveness yet?
Team huddle....strategizing! I think Knoxie and Corbin have a plan.
At this point he's just hanging out enjoying the game. Our good friend Olivia Grace was our rival. Here's a time when he gets really close to those people that had the ball!
After a 10:30 soccer game, a 1:00 birthday party, 2:30 Nutcracker practice and another birthday party 3-5 it was time to run home and get ready to cook for twelve. We had a great dinner with a fun group of friends. Thanks to Bethany for keeping all three kittens after dancing all day! What a lifesaver.

The wine may have been the least caloric thing consumed! I think there were a total of three sticks of butter in our dinner dishes! Scott didn't get a pic of his yummy beef tenderloin he was so proud of. We're definitely getting old when we leave Kroger and text our friends that meat is on sale at $6.99/lb.

April couldn't be here but David felt right at home since these were April's recipes. I can't figure out how to get another pic to fit here so I'll have to post the asparagus risotto recipe later. It was a hit, along with the homemade lemon ice cream. Yummo.

Ben is 1!

We cannot believe this little guy is 1! He still seems so much like a baby.
Weight: probably close to 28 lbs! wow!
Teeth: 2 bottom, 4 top
Words: "uh oh" sometimes, "mama"
Walking: mostly on knees, every now and then a few steps when no one is looking
Waves bye bye and the newest thing is giving kisses
Naps: about an hour in the morning, hour in the evening - NO SLEEPING away from home
Loves: balls, siblings, birds
Gifts for 1st birthday: vanilla cupcake and balloon from Kroger

He still does quite a bit of "whining" and pointing that he wants something but just cannot get quite happy! He is a sweet baby and for some reason the others seemed to be older, more mature. I guess the 3rd one is "the baby."
Just one year ago he looked like this
taken at about 6 hours old!

4 months New Year's Eve
3 months old -The day we made our Christmas pics with Santa
2 month pic - Brasstown Valley
